Thu, 16 Feb 2012 14:15:45 -0500
Most people who come to me for financial guidance have some kind of financial monster under the bed; something they feel is huge and scary and will harm them. For some, it’s not having enough money set aside for retirement, … Continue reading →

Don’t Say Working Mother, IT MAKES ME MAD!!
Thu, 02 Feb 2012 19:02:54 -0500
I recently attended a networking event for women in business. The keynote speaker was a seasoned professional woman with great experience and some helpful advice. One thing she wanted us to work on was our 30 second “elevator pitch” (a 30 second introduction meant to leave a powerful impact). Many of us bravely stood up to give our pitch, th

I came face-to-face with my own money dysfunction last weekend, all because of some truly wonderful people in my life who have a lot more stuff than I do. I would just like to say that, just because I write … Continue reading →
Flexible workforce...Really?
Mon, 23 Jan 2012 03:50:21 -0500
Moms can be tough on each other. Working moms often judge stay-at-home moms and vice-versa. The decision to work or not to work is a tough one and it’s not always a choice.
Session Variables in IE
Fri, 20 Jan 2012 15:44:46 -0500
Recently we had to mix an old ASP application with DotNetNuke. This was for a members site. Members had to log into the ASP application which created a session variable. This session variable needed to be passed along to all pages within the members site. The members site was a combination of ASP pages in [...]

Show me a woman who doesn't feel guilty and I'll show you a man.
Thu, 12 Jan 2012 15:10:50 -0500
Author Erica Jong said “show me a women who doesn’t feel guilty and I’ll show you a man”. I would bet that every mom who reads this quote nods in affirmation of this sentiment. Whether you’re a mom working full time, part time, or a stay-at-home-mom, one common thing you likely feel is guilt&n

In a recent project we did we had the need to integrate a classic ASP members site with DotNetNuke. The client had invested a lot of time and money into building an ASP based system to track their membership. They had a members only site that integrated with this membership application. When we redesigned their [...]
Moms Raising Boys
Mon, 09 Jan 2012 03:38:35 -0500
As the Twitterverse explodes with tweets about Tim Tebow leading the Denver Broncos to an incredible playoff overtime win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, I am stunned (as usual) to see some of the mockery of this young man. As a mother of two boys under the age of 5, I am fortunate that my husband serves as a wonderful role model for our boys, especially when there are so few positive

Resolutions for Working and Stay at Home Moms!
Fri, 30 Dec 2011 14:58:08 -0500
Legendary coach and motivational speaker Lou Holtz once said “If you burn your neighbor’s house down, it doesn’t make your house look any better”. This is one of my favorite quotes. It really speaks to a “win-win” versus “win-lose” mentality. Why does someone else have to be doing it wrong for us to be doing it right?
Charitable Giving = Fostering Abundance & Joy

The practice of sharing your resources with the less fortunate exists in all major religious traditions. I believe this is to ensure we don’t grow too enamored with our achievements and resources and ignore those whose circumstances are not quite … Continue reading →
Powerful Women Consumers Unite!
Tue, 27 Dec 2011 04:00:08 -0500
As the holiday season comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on my shopping experiences over the past few weeks. Like most women, I did the majority of the shopping for Christmas. If my husband did shop, it was certainly with the benefit of my input. Research overwhelmingly suggests that women make the vast majority of household purchase decisions. Who “makes” the money is actually not as significant as who spends it when it comes to consumer behavior. Whether you’re a working mom or stay-at-home mom, you likely make or influence the vast majority of purchases in your family.
Do We Have Financial Rites of Passage?
Tue, 20 Dec 2011 14:16:54 -0500
So much of society is reflected in rites of passage. Walking on fiery coals, Quinceañera or getting married are some examples. I met an interesting man a few weeks ago, Raymond Welch, who pondered whether we, as a society, have … Continue reading →
