Local jazz singer Mari McNeil left a corporate position to enter the music field; we’ll explore her career travels. According to a 2014 The Buffalo News article, Mari’s “musical journey has included a transition from 12 years (and two albums) of folk to her current four-year-old journey into jazz standards and hidden gems.”

Natalie started renovating her North Tonawanda gallery space in May 2012, while she was studying art history and museum studies during graduate school at UB. Project 308 Gallery opened on August 16th 2012 and she hasn’t looked back since. The gallery hosts more than 40 exhibitions and events per year including an annual art festival each summer through the efforts of Natalie and her volunteers.

Nicole took over her father’s business after his untimely death in 2007. A biologist, he was the sole owner and founder of the company, and left no succession plan or insurance that could have helped in this difficult situation. She had not been involved in Nature’s Way Environmental previously but felt it was important to preserve what he had built for the industry, the community, and the company’s employees.

Alexis Dent has accomplished a lot since her graduation from Ithaca College in 2014 with a bachelor of science in integrated marketing communications. She worked as an account executive for Jackson Parker Communications and started her own business. She is founder and editor-in-chief of The Miss Information, a web publication aimed at young women.

While grief is expressed in different ways for every person, having some tools to help you get through a difficult time can help ease the pain. Therapeutic laughter not only reduces stress, but helps balance the emotions by boosting the immune system and giving you permission to laugh and feel joy, even for a moment.

The Buffalo Niagara Chapter of NYS Women, Inc. and WKBW-TV will recognize our 2015/2016 Women in Leadership at this annual dinner.  We will honor the accomplishments of these twelve Western New York women who give back to the community. The “First” Trivia Game: Women from Buffalo and Western New York Who Were First in Their Field. March is Women’s History Month and we’re holding a trivia game showcasing area women who were the “first.”  Did you know Louise Bethune was the first American woman to have worked as a professional architect? (She designed Buffalo’s Hotel Lafayette.)  Discover Anna Katharine Green, “the mother of the detective novel” and many other local women who broke new territory.
