Stroke and heart attacks can look very different in women
Our speaker, Dr. Rosalind Lai, will discuss how women experience stroke and subarachnoid hemorrhage differently from men – and how women’s atypical stroke symptoms can delay diagnosis and treatment. We are more likely to have additional symptoms, including nausea, loss of consciousness or appearing confused. Outcomes also tend to be worse for women, who are more likely to experience greater disability and long-term effects. Dr. Lai will explore these sex-specific differences and how they impact the management of stroke and other vascular diseases in women.
Dr. Rosalind Lai is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the State University of New York (SUNY) and Medical Director of Neurological Stroke at Suburban Hospital.
