Please join us as we welcome LuAnne Brown, CEO of Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network, as our September speaker! LuAnne holds a BS in Nursing and a MS in Nursing Administration. Before her role at Buffalo Prenatal Perinatal Network, LuAnne worked at Kaleida Health for 30 years and held various nursing administrative positions at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, including director of Maternal/Neonatal Nursing, director of Surgical Services and chief nursing officer. LuAnne currently serves on several boards including St. Mary’s High School, Plymouth Crossroads, and the WNY Council on Ocupational Safety and Health.
The Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network (BPPN) is one of 16 comprehensive networks established by New York State in 1987. BPPN’s focus is to improve pregnancy outcomes, promote better maternal and infant/child health care, establish better linkages between existing programs, and ensure that families have access to the full range of preventative and primary health care, social support, and educational resources in Erie County. The agency currently houses the Healthy Families homebased parenting program, the Perinatal Infant Child Health Care Collaborative Community Health Worker Program, the Responsible Fatherhood Initiative, and GO Buffalo Mom. It works with approximately 1,000 clients every year. BPPN employs 50 employees who are from the communities it serves, with approximately 40% Spanish speakers and 12% who are former program participants. Its outcomes are above 90% in attendance at prenatal/postpartum/well child visits and immunizations, as well as screenings for depression, substance abuse, and domestic violence.
