The NYS Women Inc Annual State Conference was held in Albany on May 30^th – June 1^st. The Buffalo Niagara Chapter was given two awards during their Membership Awards Luncheon on Saturday.

Renee Cerullo elected as President-Elect and Linda Przepasniak elected as 2nd Vice President. There are a number of our members serving as committee chairs too.

One of this year's Grace LeGendre Fellowship Awardees was a University at Buffalo Student. She attended our BNC dinner meeting in May.

BNC member Katharine Smith, owner of White Rabbit Design, will receive the district director’s Small Business Week Special Recognition Award at the SBA Small Business Week Awards Luncheon on Wednesday May 7, 2014.

Ruthann Szychowski was a winner in the West Seneca in Bloom Garden Contest, in the Front Yard category. Read the full article >>

The infoTech Niagara BETA Awards where held on March 27th at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. Renee was awarded the "Women In Technology" award during the dinner. Women are an important and growing part of the technology community.  This award goes to the woman/woman owned business who has grown a business, developed technology or contributed the most to the WNY technology community.

Claire Knowles' Amazon Best-Selling book, Lights On! A Reflective Journey has been selected as the "graduation gift" for graduates of programs at Carolyn's House. The programs offered at Carolyn's House (Niagara Falls) help women gain stability in their lives while preparing for economic self-sufficiency. Currently, Carolyn's House offers daily GED instruction, on-site vocational programs featuring the YWCA of Niagara's own Culinary Arts Institute, a variety of life skills programs, pre-college workshops and assistance with college enrollment for qualified residents. NY has long served as a model for equality and fairness on several issues including women's rights. At the 2013 State of the State Address, governor Cuomo announced plans to advance a 10 point Women's Equality Act that will break barriers that perpetuate discrimination and inequality based on gender.
